I have read most of the comments, and I disagree respectfully.I’ve watched all four of Harry Potter’s Movies, and the fact of the matter is Harry Potter is a Witch who practices WITCHCRAFT sorcery. As a mother of six who is trying to raise her children up in the Lord.I think that we should (Christians) make a big deal out what we allow our children to watch as well as what we watch. Why do I feel that way, I’m glad you asked I feel and there is evidence that we desensitize our children when we allow them to watch movies such as Harry Porter and when we make comments such as there is less darkness in this movie Darkness is Darkness, just like evil is evil. There is no such thing as a good witch a witch is a witch just like there is no such thing as a good thief as long as he is stealing and giving back to the poor.A thief is a thief .
Satan is playing for keeps and if he can get us to think that there is none thing wrong with us watching concern shows, or there is none thing wrong with witches, sorcery, and divination then he can get us to compromise in other areas.

As a Christian teen living in our culture, I am constantly told of the temptations that are all around me, specifically in our pop culture. And while I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I feel that criticizing Harry Potter simply because it is not publically connected with Christianity is unnecessary. A fan of the books first, I am a self proclaimed Harry Potter lover. The issue is not the content of the movies, because compared to others, there is no sex, rarely a curse word, and strong morales in most of the main characters, which is hard to find in most movies that interest kids and teens today. If someone really feels that the movie will tempt their child into witchcraft and wizardry, they should probably examine their child's situation, not blame the make believe story line. Personally, I love it because it has created a whole world where good fights evil constantly. Not once have I been tempted to find hogwarts :) Trust your kids, let them play make believe!

I agree totally with the last post. Thank you!
As a believer, it saddens me when fellow believers
are so legalistic! The point about "Veggie Tales"
is excellent. Has the children's minister ever
picked up a Harry Potter book and read it? Or
even watched one of the movies? I seriously doubt
it. Usually, people just jump on a bandwagon
without being informed.

I love this website and I have used
it many times to determine if a movie is suitable
for my children.

It's good to see such constructive analyzing of a fantasy movie. I like that it's noticed the movie has good undertones in it. I almost see it as taking the spiritual world we live in and making it part of the physical.
It bothers me to see people who are completely against a fantasy movie such as this because of the "witchcraft" it portrays, and yet will show their children Veggie Tales. That which if you take it into consideration, has witchcraft in it because everyone knows vegetables don't talk.
What we can do is be adults about it and understand first the difference between reality and fantasy.
Both fantasies were constructed to reach children and keep them entertained while teaching them good moral constructs for growing up. Veggies were born as talking Vegetables and will always be that, they cannot change who they are.
Harry was born a wizard and cannot change that. He needs to go to a school to learn of the gift he has, like we must learn of our own gifts from God

This is my first time coming to this website. The first thing that I see when the site pulls up is Harry Potter, and I think to myself, how refreshing to see that some sites aren't jumping on the bandwagon of Harry Potter fever. I was expecting to see an article of why people should't see this movie and how it was against God's word. Only to find that it wasn't. I am very dissappointed. I take a strong stand against this type of movie. It is a very alluring, sneaky and deceitful way to pull kids in and fool them into thinking this type of behavior is acceptable in God's eyes. As a children's church pastor I am very adament about teaching my kids that witchcraft and spells are against God. This is clearly stated in the Bible. How can a Bible based web site allow something on their website that is so opposite of God's word? Yes,this may just be a movie review, but where do we draw the line? We have sat back and have become complascent in our beliefs and morals. Deuteronomy 18:10
