Can you say Humidity? Someone in our group said today that they were going to take a shower to dry off! Yes, it's that humid here. When I took off my shirt as I returned to my Hotel room this evening - you could literally ring water out of it.
But that's not the important news. The important news is that God is at work in Cambodia! We visited four different churces today - all in the vicinity of Siem Reap - one of Cambodia's largest cities. We heard testimony after testimony of Budhists who had trusted Christ as their Savior. All echoed the same theme - they were born into a Budhist family where they had no hope, no peace, no forgiveness until someone told them about Jesus and gave them a Bible.
I've gotten a crash course in Budhism since our arrival here. Budhism has no explanation for who created the world or for that matter why the world exists. Three people today alone shared that when they were given a Bible they were astounded at what they read in the first chapter of Genesis. In different words they all said, "So, this is who created the world!! This is the real God!" In a short time they had given their heart to Christ as a Believer shared who Jesus was and the fact that He died for their sins. I'm amazed at the openness of Budhists here. They are coming to Christ by the thousands! That's the good news - the wondeful news!!! Churches are being planted all over the country.
Now, here's the bad news. Many, many new believers have no Bible. They may have to wait months until a Bible is available. I'm praying, that together, we can change that. I wish you could hear personally the plea we are hearing for Bibles. There is such hunger for God's Word here. I'm praying that you will help fill the desperate need for God's word here. The door for the Gospel is wide open in this country - but for how long?
I know I've said it in all of my blogs from Cambodia - but thank you for your prayers!! I can sense them. We've kept a brutal schedule - but I'm so thankful for every Cambodian Christian we have had the privilege of meeting - and for the privilege of seeing first hand this mighty move of God's Spirit.
Tomorrow is our last full day in the country. As I said before - I'm ready to come home.
Can't wait to tell you in person all I've seen and heard. Lord willing, I'll be back on the air Thursday.
Goodnight from Cambodia - and Remember whose you are!!
