Huckabee’s Christmas: Big Blunder or Home Run

Mike Huckabee’s recent meteoritic rise to the top in many early Republican polls has drawn the ire and attack from other GOP candidates in the race who see his sudden unforeseen progress a real threat to their campaigns. Non social conservative Republicans from the northeast and some evangelical political organizational leaders within the Washington Beltway are also not very pleased with his latest success.

Now comes his Christmas television ad running in Iowa . Cries of foul by spin pundits charging he may have crossed the line by using campaign contributions to fund his “religious” message at Christmas, oh my, and how dare he use a moving bookshelf as a sinister subliminal Christian Cross in the background.

I say had he not been a pesky little last minute under funded front runner, had he also added a belated Happy Hanukkah to his Jewish supporters as well as a happy hello to any other group celebrating the New Year and had the ad not simply hit it out of the park in “Big Poppy” style out classing all his rivals ( a tip of the hat by this New York Yankee devotee to the Boston great ), we would not be hearing about all this controversy. And how could I forget, had he wished good tidings to any other singular faith but Christianity it would have never been noticed. As for me any time I hear a Merry Christmas, I just smile. Your thoughts……..
