I agree, socialism is not what we want in this country. But Obama isn't suggesting a change to socialism. He's suggesting policies that are vaguely socialist in nature. There's a difference. Some socialistic policies do not make him a socialist or insinuate that he wants to make this a socialist country. What's wrong (or anti-biblical)with helping those in need with welfare and affordable health care? How will that hurt the country?

Socialism, as rightly pointed out in this article, sounds nice but in practice is quite sinister. Sharing, giving, charity are all Christian traits. Socialism is economic oppression where a few in power decide how much we get to keep, if any. It leads to the loss of basic freedoms, and it has failed everywhere it has been tried, including for a short time in the early church (Acts 6) and in colonial America.

USA was founded on a general Calvinism (men are sinful and corrupt) to keep any one party or person limited in their power. USA was also built on the Protestant work ethic; work hard and succeed and build a better world for your family.

Socialism not only tears down these freedoms, but in practice around the world to keep the governments in power they must resort to oppression, deceit, murder on a massive scale. Does not sound Christian to me.

Just to put this out there, I am a Christian, and I voted for Obama. I am not someone posing as a Christian to sway voters. Promise. And I do not feel that how I voted makes me less of a Christian.

If it seems that there are quite a lot of "Christians" posting on Crosswalk lately who seem to have unbiblical, far-left viewpoints, there's a reason for it.
As I've suspected for a while, individuals with a leftist agenda are posting on this site, posing as Christians, in order to try to sway people's opinions and make Christian people think that they are so out of touch for holding to a biblical worldview.
It has been admitted by at least one Obama campaign worker.
Christians, have some discernment and stick to your guns!

This is my first visit to Crosswalk in a while and I'm saddened to see unsubstantiated claims being made about a presidential candidate that just don't add up. The "New Party" claims have been espoused by far, far right-wing bloggers and are backed up only by a casual reference to websites no longer in existence.

As far as the "socialist" claim, John McCain has been accused of the same thing. In his 2000 presidential campaign an audience member made a statement that his own tax policies smelled of socialism, to which he responded, "when you reach a certain level of comfort, there's nothing wrong with paying somewhat more."

McCain voted against the Bush tax cuts because they gave too much to the top 20% and not enough to middle-income Americans, but now he insists on keeping them. Today he even embarked on a "Joe the Plumber, Keep Your Wealth" tour. Why?

When I look at scripture, I see a redeemer who bristled at these ideas. (Matt 6:24, Luke 12:15, Acts 20:35, 1 Timothy 6:5-12)
