Fox News ISN'T News; It's So Much More

Complaining that Fox News isn't news is like complaining that a lemonade stand isn't a bar. It's not supposed to be. That's not its purpose.
The purpose of Fox News (or certainly of the Fox News "personalities" and commentators) isn't to present "fair and balanced" anything. The purpose of Fox News is to give focus and affirm the anger that a lot of people naturally carry around with them.
You feel powerless and victimized; you're angry; you're just looking for a way to focus and affirm that anger. And there's Glenn Beck, railing and crying over the gross injustices of all the people in power who are immoral idiots bent on destroying everything that's decent and good.
Or there's Keith Olbermann, doing exactly the same thing.
And the presidents of both their companies happily count their money, knowing that, of all things, anger is the gift that keeps on giving.

I think FOX News is doing an incredible service because they are willing to cover stories that the public wants to know, not just stories that the Administration has decided they want the public to know. The ratings reflect the fact that people are very concerned about where the country is heading and they don't want to fall for anything. If the Obama Administration were able to present a trustworthy and honest image, the reporting and probing on FOX would not matter. It is the Administration that has created the thirst for information and the deep skepticism of the American people.

The fact of the matter is, FOX News presents both fair and honest reporting, and conservative commentary. Simply because you disagree with commentators like Glenn Beck, does not justify slandering the credibility of an entire network.
