'Please Pray Also for the Attacker…'

CNS News This Hour

(CNSNews.com) - The wife of the sniper's latest victim issued the following statement Monday morning. Neither the woman nor her 37-year-old husband has been identified. The man, who was shot Saturday night in a restaurant parking lot in Ashland, Va., just off I-95, is in critical condition with extensive internal injuries. The couple was passing through Ashland when he was shot. Their hometown has not been released.

The statement reads, "I would like to thank the people of Richmond and Ashland for their caring and their prayers. They have been a bright ray of hope and comfort. Also thank you to the staff of the hospital for their excellent dedication and skill. This has been a frightening and difficult time, where I have feared the loss of my husband, my friend, and soul mate.

"The support I have gotten from this community, my home community, and my family has seen me through this difficult time. The hospital's taken care of all our needs, so there is no need to send anything other than continued prayer. Please pray also for the attacker and that no one else is hurt."
