Thanks to a timely newsletter from StevenCurtisChapman.com, I was reminded this past week that even though the tsunami disaster relief effort in Asia and Africa has NOT been the lead in recent papers or blogs … that doesn't mean that the work is over or the need has lessened any one bit.
Steven has invited you, me, and anyone else to continue contributing via his foundation, Shaohannah's Hope. For every dollar you can give, Steven and his family will match it up to $20,000, and 100 percent of the monies received will "be given to organizations with Christ-centered efforts and staff on the ground in or near the affected areas." These organizations include the Love Basket and Project Restore, and be sure to earmark your check with "Tsunami Relief" when you send it in. And speaking of making a difference, the members of female-fronted modern rock band Daniel's Window are about to find out what that means in their very own bodies, minds and souls very soon, as the Chicago-based group will receive physical training and nutrition advice from International Health Coach Jeremy Likness as part of "Christian Music Makeover."
"My experience is that through physique transformation, individuals gain more energy, excitement and passion for life," says Likness, CEO of Natural Physiques. "In fact, it helps many people reconnect with their faith. This is an exciting campaign that will raise awareness of faith and health through the powerful energy of the band, Daniel's Window."
Billed as "part 'Extreme Makeover' and part 'Making the Band,'" "Christian Music Makeover" will transform the Cross Driven Records group from "average" to "wow" over the next six months under the watchful eye of Likness.
It'll be a complete makeover process from the inside out, during which Likness will design workouts that are conducive to lots of road travel and diet plans for musicians who regularly eat at fast food restaurants while touring. You'll be able to monitor DW's progress via the official, interactive Web site, www.ChristianMusicMakeover.com. Fans will also have the opportunity to win the same products and services that the band will be using through their makeover experience.
Another "makeover" of sorts is coming your way soon from two-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist Ashley Cleveland who's reinterpreting some of our most beloved hymns on "Men and Angels Say." The February 15 release on Rambler Records includes the debut single, "It Is Well with My Soul," which is currently going for adds on AC radio stations nationwide.
"This is a deeply personal album for me," shares Cleveland. "When I was entrenched in alcoholism and drug addiction, the hymns that I grew up singing would come to me unbidden and forgotten for years, and I would come undone remembering the messages of hope and mercy in each song."
