Timed for release on the one-year anniversary of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts, the National Gay and Lesbian task Force released a manifesto for revising our understanding of "biblical family values."

Written by Rev. Jay Emerson Johnson, it is intended as a response to arguments put forth by those defending marriage against revision.

Johnson claims that the Bible offers no normative definition of marriage or the family unit.

In fact, he erroneously suggests that polygamy is "the most common form of marriage in the Bible."

That's just not so.

He also insinuates that familiar Bible characters such as Ruth and Naomi, and David and Jonathan, were models of "same-sex devotion."

These individuals were deeply devoted to each other, but it is nothing short of slanderous to suggest anything sexual.

This sad document is a reminder that those pushing for the normalization of same-sex marriage and homosexual relationships must deal with the Bible.

If only they would deal with it honestly.
