There seems to be some "concern" surrounding Costa's "Voter Empowerment Act", or as we know it, the "re-districting reform initiave" set to appear on the November 8th 'special election ballot'.
From a statement released from State GOP Chairman Duf Sundheim this afternoon;
The Los Angeles Times is writing an article for publication on Wednesday, July 6 that may cause some alarm. I want to put tomorrow’s article into perspective for you today.
The redistricting initiative circulated for signatures and submitted to the Secretary of State’s office by Ted Costa and People’s Advocate is not identical to the version Costa submitted to the Attorney General for official title and summary. The differences between the two versions of Costa’s initiatives are marginal and insignificant, and the fact remains that over 950,000 registered voters in California signed petitions to qualify the “Voter Empowerment Act” because they believe that the power of democracy belongs in the hands of the people, not the politicians.
As it stands, Ted Costa’s “Voter Empowerment Act” will appear on the November 8 ballot. There is some question, however, as to which version will be on the ballot, and the Secretary of State’s office has asked the Attorney General for an opinion on the matter.
I would not be surprised if opponents of reform – the same people who created billions of dollars of deficits and who want to raise your taxes – file a lawsuit to challenge the “Voter Empowerment Act” in an attempt to thwart the will of the people. I am asking you today to continue to fight for redistricting reform so that we can end a system that is so corrupt it allows politicians to buy a safe seat.
We are scheduling both, Duf Sundheim and Ted Costa for the Wednesday morning show on "News Talk 1380 KTKZ", make sure you tune in early enough to hear the content of the 'mishap' (if there is one), and the solutions the state's Attorney General should afford the 950,000-plus signers of the petition.
