1. Stop the Anonymity. By that I mean, it would be a lot more effective the next time you tell us that radicals don't represent the real face of Islam if you took the time to actually name some names. Go on record and out some brothers. People like the assassin of Dutch filmmaker Van Gogh or the nutty mosque leader in London who said there is no such thing as an "innocent (ie non-targetable) infidel". Until you do, we'll keep thinking you're just doing this for the press, and that you have a secret bond of brotherhood with these fanatics that still holds. Better yet,why not investigate yourselves and post a list of rogue mosque leaders in America? Let the outing begin.
2. Stop The Blame. It's not too helpful to your credibility to add a phrase like "in spite of the continuing crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, we still denounce the recent terror attack". I swear, I found a phrase like that in just about every statement by moderate Muslim leaders over the weekend. So was that a repudiation or a subtle justification of terror?
3. Stop the Shame. If I hear another story from the Muslim center about the pain of Western-induced poverty driving young men into suicide bombing, I'll pull the pin on myself. Don't you read the stories of the wealthy backgrounds that the key Saudi fugitives currently sport? The private schools and middle class digs of the London Four aren't exactly "fresh from the projects" resumes either. Accept that it's not low net worth, but a low moral threshold in your own theology that might need work.
4. Stop The Games. Quit insisting that we pass all our talking points past your people for approval before we voice our outrage. How you got the BBC to again refuse to use the word "terrorists" to describe the London Four last week because it would be "a barrier to understanding" is quite frankly beyond my understanding.
Get real.Then get believed.
