Art Sponsor Threatening Advertising Buys?

Eric Hogue

Radio Talk Host and Syndicated Columnist

An update on the funding of the California Arts Council, and their Lawyer For Art display hosted by Attorney General Bill Lockyer inside of the DOJ Building.

Today we have concluded, until it can be proved otherwise, that River City Bank has contributed a total of $250 toward the art exhibit.

All of the sponsors mentioned on the "Hogue Blog" July 18th, have donated at least $250, to the CAC and their seasonal art exhibits. This means that River City Bank has added money to the efforts for Lockyer's anti-American, anti-military protest art.

We have asked River City Bank Communications Director, Jeanie Reeves, to appear on the show and explain the donations, she has declined to do so at this time.

The report that River City Bank, and the other sponsors were 'lied to', or the report that the sponsors were misrepresented by the CAC press release seems to be a stretch. We brought this issue to Reeve's attention on July 18th, and she was shocked to hear about the CAC's release mentioning the sponsors. From July 18th, to this morning, River City Bank has had an opportunity to clear this up, but have chosen to remain in the shadows with confusing and conflicted statements.

Other media outlets (other radio stations) are offering a 'defensive statement' for River City Bank, saying that they were 'used' by the CAC, and the release. I find this amusing. At the conclusion of our conversation today with Reeves, she suggested that she was responsible for ALL communications for the bank, and that she was also responsible for ALL advertising buys. Was that a threat to 1380 KTKZ?

Are we watching, listening to 'other stations' run a cover for the bank, so they can keep their advertising dollars? It is a fair assumption, wouldn't you say.
