A VALUES WIN ON A BAD ELECTION NIGHT: Anyone that knew the polling going into Tuesday pretty much knew that Democrats were going to pick up the Governor's houses in both Virginia and New Jersey. Since both were already in Democrats hands to begin with - it would be foolish for Howard Dean to think that he somehow served up huge results.
In New Jersey Jon Corzine bought his way to another election victory. In fact it was so ****yawn*** uninspiring that Dick Morris, on FOX NEWS CHANNEL called Corzine "an obscenity" as a candidate, Larry Sabato added that he went from being the Senate's most undistinguished Senator to now become New Jersey's most undistinguished Governor.
In Virginia the Democrat who won is a charismatic figure in that state and socially he is much more conservative than the national Democratic party. Howard Dean should probably take note.
Planned Parenthood rallied voters in California and narrowly defeated the proposition 73 that would have given parents 48 hour notice before their child is admitted for an abortion.
So where was the one lone bright spot for values based voters? Texas voters by 76% rejected changing the definition of marriage to include homosexual unions. Like so many other states the laws in Texas did not previously allow such unions to be called marriage, but this action was taken so as to prevent activist judges from overreaching and redefining something against the expressed will of the voters. And voters spoke loudly at a 3 to 1 ratio making it clear what the intent of the people is!
