JESSICA SIMPSON, NICK LACHEY, BITE THE DUST: I have to admit the Lovely Bride is saddened by this news. Tonight the press people for each of the two singers have announced that they have officially parted ways.
"After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," Simpson and Lachey said in an official statement. "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."
Their outcomes will now endure endless speculation. What caused it? Was there any truth to the stuff behind the scenes?
One of the more odd things being that just hours before they confirmed their seperation wild and hot speculation across the internet was that - Jess was pregnant. Nick also appeared solo at the American Music Awards on Tuesday night.
Political readers of this space will be irritated that I even am touching on it. Others may wonder why not just leave the issue alone as the couple is asking. But in my mind there are more than one strange things that the Lovely Bride and I have discussed in relationship to this celebrity couple and I think some of them come to play in their present situation.
For instance, how does this action, and many of her family's actions in recent years reflect upon their evangelical, Southern Baptist Faith?
A cursory observation says - not well...
One of the things that the Lovely Bride has brought up on a consistent basis when the discussion has turned there has been, "Isn't her Dad a pastor and shouldn't he have something to say about this or that?"
You may remember that 4 years ago Jessica's dad was carrying the water for his daughter on the issue of her virginity. He made a big deal about how it was something that she wanted to save for her husband, and that she was doing so based partially on her faith and how important that is to her. But somewhere along the line it seems like a switch got flipped. Whatever biblical restraint he had seemed to put into her life slowly began to fade away. Increasingly the way she was dressed seemed to contradict her message prior to marriage. These pics are conservative examples of what I'm saying...
How would we feel as men - if we were in Nick Lachey's situation? You are married to a woman who has God-given curves and natural good looks, hey - its one of the reasons you married her and waited till you were married to share in sexual intimacy with her. But it seemed that the "faith based" reasons she was saving herself, turned into more than just a few low cut outfits when attending awards ceremonies together.
