AWARD SEASON IS UPON US: I always enjoy this type of opportunity though I have to admit, it also doesn't matter much to me. I do what I do, because it's what I know I'm supposed to do. If other's sing your praise, sometimes the temptation becomes increasingly hard to ignore. You suddenly find yourself thinking about how or what others think about you as opposed to focusing on blasting away at what needs to be done.
If this is a revolution, it must be fought with vigor and gusto. If it is acknowledged by others as something that is valuable to the larger scheme of things then so be it.
That also makes me sound resoundingly ungrateful - WHICH I AM NOT. To be honored by your industry is the highest praise your peers can bestow upon you, and in this industry - being nominated IS an honor.
Having said that there are a couple of honors we are now or may soon be in the running for. First Up - our flagship station in New York, WMCA is being nominated this year for "Station of the Year." Dave Armstrong, Charlie Devine, and the rest of the staff deserve every bit of accolades that could come their way from this. They have worked tirelessly to turn the Salem Radio Properties in The Big Apple the number one revenue producing stations out of all the Salem Properties nationwide, and this year will surpass any revenue records ever held by a single Christian Radio station in American history. This growth is not by accident, through diligent programming, revenue, and team goals they have achieved more in the three years at the helm than the station has accomplished in its very historic past combined.
It has been a real pleasure to be part of the team in New York and we look forward to taking WMCA to even further heights in the years to come.
We were also honored this year, for the fourth year in a row, to be honored with a nomination for "Talk Show of the Year." You can preview the nomination reel we were asked to submit by clicking here.
Finally the Wizbang Blog Awards are again being held, and it looks as though we may be nominated in several categories this year. Last year we did not campaign or compete for any of our Weblog awards - we felt internally that we had not accomplished what we needed to - in order to even be considered. This year will be different - we will encourage your votes on every opportunity, and be thankful for them.
I am now boarding a plane headed back to New York - and will resume broadcasting tomorrow. See you then.
