"While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.." -- Luke 2:6-7

EYE OF THE STORM

Comics news site Newsrama has picked up the story about Tempest, an all-star comic book to benefit Salvation Army hurricane relief efforts.

He's just an artist, a normal man who writes stories of heroics and tragedy. But now, surrounded by news of tragedy and disaster, confronted with his own limitations, and facing the lifting veil of innocence, he is forced to ask some difficult questions, starting with, "What can I do? I'm just one man". TEMPEST is a story of hope in the face of pain; beauty in the face of evil; strength in the face of solitary weakness.

Written by our pal Ben Avery, the project is illustrated by an all-star lineup of artists -- who have worked on the likes of Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, The Moth, Green Arrow, Disney animation and more -- including Randy Green, Javier Saltares, Sherwin Schwartzrock, Sergio Cariello, Mike Worley, Tom Bancroft, Phil Hester, Mario Ruiz, Gary Shipman, Darren Brady, Jesse Hamm, Darryl Cobbs, Nate Watson and Gary Martin.

For those of you who don't know how the comic market works, the stores have to know in advance how many copies of a particular issue they need to order. So if you want a copy when it becomes available, tell your your local comic book store NOW.

Q&A WITH JAMES SCOTT BELL

We now have posted the entire Q&A with author James Scott Bell. He has written several popular legal thrillers, has authored more than 300 articles on trial law, and is a regular contributer to Writers Digest magazine.

Throughout the conversation, Mr. Bell shares advice to aspiring writers, what aspect of God he hopes readers get from his work, and why the jobs of "minister" and "entertainer" are not necessarily "either/or" propositions.
