SERENITY NOW!

Over at Chris Well: Learning Curve, we have been having a conversation with Buzz Dixon, a writer whose credits include many animated television shows, including G.I. Joe and Transformers. His latest project is the Christian manga series Serenity :

Meet Serenity, a lonely teen from a broken family who just wants to be accepted -- but who tends to lash out at others with anger and obnoxious sarcasm. At her new school, the Christian prayer group takes Serenity on as a "project," showing her friendship and love ... but will even that be enough to crack her hard shell? Sharply illustrated in full color, BAD Girl in Town features realistic storylines and dialogue, and shares a solid biblical message with tween and teen girls. And Serenity's story only starts here -- five more books are planned to release every other month starting in January.

GOSPEL AT THE SUPER BOWL

Sam's Club is presenting the 2006 Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, an evening of inspirational music, soul-stirring testimonies from NFL players and surprise guests to help kick off Super Bowl Weekend at the Masonic Temple on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7:45 p.m.

Patti LaBelle will share the stage with the Winans and Clark Sisters. Duo Mary Mary and Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Choir will also perform.

"Super Bowl Gospel Celebration is proud to have Sam's Club as its presenting sponsor for the first time this year," says Melanie Few, concert founder and manager, and owner of Results Inc., an Atlanta-based marketing and entertainment agency. "The show promises to once again be a true highlight of Super Bowl weekend with inspirational music and testimonies. The audience will be wowed with this soul-stirring, star-studded event."

The Super Bowl Gospel Celebration evolved from NFL players suggesting an event during Super Bowl Weekend that highlighted Gospel music. The event has drawn thousands and has proven to be one of the most attended events during Super Bowl Weekend. Each year, the gospel concert features the industry's top artists joined by several current and former NFL players.

In the past, NFL greats Antwaan Randle El, Cris Carter, Curtis Martin, Kurt Warner, Tommie Harris, Michael Barrow, Troy Vincent, Qadry Ismail, Aeneas Williams, Deion Sanders, Quincy Carter, LaVar Arrington, Bryan Scott and others have given their time to the event. Players share their testimonies and inspirational messages with the audience.
