NOT BROOKE TOO!: Over the past few weeks I wondered what the story was on American Idol. I KNEW for a fact that both Brooke and Leah Barrettsmith - who made it through from Chicago on the contest's opening broadcast - had barely seen the light of day in actual singing time.
What the broadcast did not show - even in tonight's extremely boring episode where 20 contestants got cut - for no apparent reason, was the powerhouse vocals that these two girls have.
Much less talented voices kept getting featured. Stupid antics from the Brittenum twins took center stage. And the drama of the singing cowboy was the real heart-warmer...
But this is a SINGING competition. Yes I agree that Leah's group flailed big time on the lyrics of their song. There was no excuse and they missed their opportunity but why did Brooke get cut?
Having seen those who did make it, and having seen Brooke perform numbers of times, there simply is NO explanation.
Except one possibility. Neither Brooke nor Leah attempted to draw untoward attention to themselves. Both counted on the assertion that true talent would be rewarded. And both no doubt saw their opportunity to be part of the contest as something that God brought into their life.
Leah was allowed to join us on the MuscleHead Revolution broadcast today. She gave us a peek at what it's like to put up with Simon, and the crazy week that is Hollywood week. She also revealed her future plans. If you would like to hear the PodCast/MP3 click here within the next seven days (you can also download it for your own permanent copy if you so like.)
