BROOKE BARRETTSMITH SHINES ON: This last week I was sad to see my friends Brooke and Leah Barrettsmith get eliminated from American Idol. I couldn't quite figure it out as to why with Brooke. Leah got paired with a nightmare of a group for the ensemble portion of the contest. But Brooke really continued to beat the judges expectations - and then for no discernable reason she gets cut at the point where - performance had nothing to do with it.
I also could not figure out why they didn't show more of Brooke's performances on television.
Well - if you were pulling for her - or just wanted to know more about her, and the experience of the American Idol process, I've got a treat for you! Just like her sister did last Tuesday, Brooke sat down with us the day after she was eliminated from the contest. If you would like to hear the forty minute appearance she gave us just click here. (That link should be good for the next five to six days. If you want to hear it past that I would recommend downloading the MP3 to your computer.)
Now if you'd like to sample some of her original music, she has four songs streaming on her MySpaceMusic page. The one that begins playing as soon as you go to the page is my favorite - simply called "Make Me." And I'm hoping that she is snatched up by a great record company who will give her the creative support that her creative abilities so richly deserve. In fact - I believe that the song "Make Me" in it's current recorded form - would hold up against any of the previous American Idol singles from Kelly, Clay, Rueben, Fantasia, or Carrie.
Having been a former music director before switching to talk radio, I think the song is good enough to be a single at present - and if you're a radio programmer and you add this song, e-mail me and let me know and we will link your radio operation right here to the MuscleHead Revolution.
Brooke also has a fun show planned in Spring Grove Illinois coming up March 11th. If you're in the area that day why don't you make plans to join them. She will be doing some of the songs some of her local fans will remember from the past and she will be unveiling some of the new stuff as well. For more details click here.
