BASIC INSTINCT DIRECTOR, "America bans everything...": Sharon Stone has been out peddling the smut for a couple of weeks. During which time she let us know that she had been engaging in private discussions with teen girls in private dressing rooms about why they should give oral sex to their boyfriends. She also weighed in on the presidential race in 2008.
Now that her new porn project has been met with such disdain by the American public - surely she is reevaluating her position on all things sexually progressive right? Well her director sure isn't...
Paul Verhoeven sounded off angrily on Monday. Running off a litany of explicit films that had been met with less than a full embrace by the American viewing public, he saved his fury for who he blamed.
In short, he blamed the born-again President, the right wing in America, and especially evangelicals.
"Look at the people at the top (of the government). We are living under a government that is constantly hammering out Christian values. And Christianity and sex have never been good friends."
In short - the "hammering out of Christian values," in Verhoeven's mind is a bad thing. It's really too bad he feels this way.
And for what it's worth - he's wrong about Christianity and sex. They make great friends. Here's what Verhoeven doesn't understand.
Christianity gives us the model by which the greatest amount of fulfillment can be found in our sex lives. Husbands who truly love their wives by meeting her needs, often get rewarded with wives who desire to seduce and entice the man who makes them feel loved. And doing this dance for a lifetime is what Christianity advocates!
Poor guy, he just doesn't get it...
