HILLARY AND HARRY: Did you see the joint op-ed that Senators Clinton and Reid authored today? Not only was it dishonest it verged on downright racist - but don't expect the media actually interpret the meanings of what Clinton and Reid wrote - for what they meant. So in a sense the op-ed was completely useless...
But let me expose it for it was, a racist, class baiting, defense of... abortion.
As two senators on opposite sides of the abortion debate, we recognize that one side will not suddenly convince the other to drop its deeply held beliefs.
Translation: We would like to pretend that we are on opposite sides of the debate so that we can trick all those who are dumb enough to fall for it. And since we are pretending we have to throw in the business about "convincing the other to drop blah blah blah..."
And we believe that, while disagreeing, we can work together to find common ground.
More blah blah...
We believe that it is necessary for all Americans to join together and embrace policies that will reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, decrease abortions and improve access to women's health care.
This was intriguing - I'm all for reducing unintended pregnancies, and decreasing abortions (after all thats what this op-ed was supposed to be about.) But what in the world does improving access to "women's health care" have to do with it? And do women really have difficulty accessing health care? Are there husbands out there working, getting health insurance and coming home saying "no doctor for you!"
Our proposal includes common- ground, common-sense policies.
Right, ok, this we gotta see...
It makes family-planning services more accessible to low-income women. It improves awareness and understanding of emergency contraception, a poorly understood yet highly effective form of contraception.
Right, because if there's one thing that we have to insure its that low-income women (read that black and hispanic) have access to the right to turn your own unborn child into sausage. And what H and H mean here is that they want you and I to pay for it.
It ensures that government-funded sex education programs provide medically accurate information about contraception.
Hey - here's an idea, how about some medically accurate information about the side effects of abortion. The increase in the risk for cervical cancer, the tie to breast cancer, and the fact that you are exterminating a human life in the process. How about just showing women an ultrasound of their unborn child.
It also ends insurance discrimination against women. Right now, many policies cover Viagra, but not prescription contraceptives. That is wrong, and our legislation will change it.
Right... this truly illustrates discrimination Viagra and Birth Control...
