GEORGIA JUDGE REVERSES 76% OF GEORGIA VOTERS: Judicial arrogance is again raising its nasty head. This time in one quick stroke - overturning the elective will of 76% of the voters in the state he serves. This is proof positive that the Marriage Protection Amendment is needed at the federal level that cuts across all states.
The argument most made the last go around on the Marriage Protection Amendment, especially by northeastern liberals (Kennedy, Clinton, Schumer, Dodd, Corzine, Lautenberg...) was that states had the full capacity to define marriage on their own terms. If a state can through the will of its people, they would argue, define what marriage is for their individual state - then there is essentially no need to "federalize marriage".
Well the voters in Massachusetts were never even given a chance to define it for their state, and now a single black-robed-evil-one in Georgia has decided instead to override the collective will of the people.
Friends that's why it is so important that we stand up starting now and demand that Congress pass the Marriage Protection Act. Senator Frist has promised to bring the bill to the Senate Floor in June (4th or 5th). He fully expects it to be filibustered - therefore he will have to call for cloture vote on whether the bill can proceed. This will essentially open the debate on the floor - about the amendment. At the end of that debate - the GOP will need 60 votes to pass the bill to the House - where it would pass easily and then be on to the President's desk for signature and then ratification by two-thirds of the states (again an easy task...)
Don't believe the lie that northeastern liberals will try to use again - that state's are well protected by their own voters, constitutions, and assemblies - THEY AREN'T.
