On Friday, June 2, more than three dozen Internet sites in three countries joined together to simultaneously post the first chapter from Deliver Us From Evelyn. As word spread over the weekend, others joined in -- by Monday, Deliver Us From Evelyn was featured on at least 50 different websites, blogs, MySpace pages and message boards. Most posted the first chapter online; the rest pointed readers to the chapter on other sites. Others showed their support by emailing the first chapter of Evelyn to hundreds of additional readers.
The highlights:
* At least FIFTY sites participated altogether, counting blogs, MySpace pages, websites and message boards, in three countries
* Altogether, a combined total of more than 100,000 readers sampled or read about Deliver Us From Evelyn between June 2-5
* Participants included a cross-section of fans, readers and professional novelists from a wide variety of genres, including members of International Thriller Writers, Sisters in Crime and American Christian Fiction Writers.
* Two major Christian culture magazines participated online, CCM Magazine and Infuze Magazine.
* The resulting Internet chatter led blog authority Technorati, which tracks 42.9 million sites and 2.5 billion links, to rank Deliver Us From Evelyn one of the Top 10 books discussed on the Web (alongside such general market successes as The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, A Million Little Pieces, The Devil Wears Prada, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West). By June 5, Evelyn hit the Top 5 -- and stayed in the Top 10 through June 7.
