I thank you for writing your comments concerning two of my latest articles. Unfortunately, I'm sure that no matter how I reply to your comments and criticisms, you'll continue to delude yourself with opinions that, no doubt, put you in the political category of "leftist," or dare I say "socialist."

Let's begin with the typical Democrat charge that President Bush lied about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. Perhaps you've been too busy focusing on why the British would prefer that we choose married presidents who have sex with interns in the Oval Office to notice that our soldiers have turned up over 500 artillery shells filled with Sarin and mustard gas since 2003.

But let's not quibble with empirical evidence; let's hear about WMDs in Iraq from some of the Democratic politicians you surely admire.

"In the four years since the inspectors, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capability to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." (Sen. Hillary Clinton, Congressional Record, 10/10/02, p. S10288)

How about this opinion from eco-politician Al Gore? "[I]f you allow someone like Saddam Hussein to get nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, chemical weapons, biological weapons, how many people is he going to kill with such weapons? He's already demonstrated a willingness to use these weapons ..." (CNN's "Larry King Live," 12/16/98)

Perhaps you've forgotten that Hussein is now on trial for genocide for gassing innocent people with chemical weapons? I could go on and on with similar comments about WMDs in Iraq from Senators John Kerry, John Edwards, Harry Reid, Evan Bayh, Joe Biden, Dick Durbin, Russ Feingold, Bill Nelson, and slew of other Democrats. If you don't believe me, spend some time going through the Congressional Record where it's all laid out in black and white. You, however, will probably continue quoting Democratic talking points, the biggest lies of all.

I also have to note your ability to forecast the future concerning 9-11, an admirable trait that President Clinton surely would have appreciated when he wasn't trolling the intern pool, since the very lack of actions that you have pegged on the Bush administration could also be attributed to the Clinton administration. Your observation that after Islamofacists bombed the World Trade Center in 2003, it would have been so logical to conclude that "A flying bomb in the guise of a fully fueled civilian aircraft should have been a top priority of concern" demonstrates that with predictive powers like this, you should put down the paper and run out and play New Hampshire's state lottery tonight.

As a passing comment, I'm unsure how you've connected the "turmoil in the Middle East" with President Bush and Karl Rove. Remember what happened after Clinton had Yasser Arafat and his wife as overnight guests at the White House? Arafat thanked the Clintons for their hospitality and went back to Gaza to start the second Infidata against Israelis, including the use of terrorist bombers whose families were compensated for their loss with stipends from Saddam Hussein.

As I conclude this response, I have a sense that you might be a bit older than me. If that's the case, you surely remember Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson and his "Great Society," a socialistic endeavor that has brought us the wonders of urban project housing, welfare, a greatly-expanded war in Vietnam, and race riots in Watts and Chicago. Yes, Mr. Furlong, weren't the '60s grand?

You have a chance to change all of this, Mr. Furlong, with the next presidential election. Democratic voters in New Hampshire, however, seemed to have been snubbed by their own party as being the lead off presidential primary state in 2008. As a matter of fact, if State Democratic Party Chairwoman Kathy Sullivan brings this tinkering of your primary to court, the DNC has threatened to bar Granite State delegates from the 2008 convention. That's gratitude, I guess, for giving Democratic primaries to politicians like Paul Tsongas, Gary Hart, and Ed Muskie.

Nathan Tabor

Letter from John W. Furlong

Britons would prefer a President who has sex with a willing intern to a President Mr. Tabor admires who lies about WMD, did not win the Presidency by majority vote the first time around, employed the disgraceful dirty tricks of Karl Rove, is responsible for turmoil in the Middle East and thousands of civilian deaths in Iraq and almost 2,000 deaths of his own soldiers.

If Mr. Tabor is the type of US representative visiting Britain, no wonder the British newspapers find him and his kind "vulgar." I can assure Mr. Tabor's readers however, that the majority of ordinary Britons do not dislike Americans but dislike their present government as, I would suspect, do many Americans and most other peoples of the world.

We have not had another attack since 9/11 because the terrorists achieved and are still achieving their strategic aims. When they are ready, they will try again and our military "which is second to none," will be unable to stop them. What will stop them is intelligence and good common sense, like taking note when ELAL airlines recommends secure cockpit doors in civilian aircraft to stop highjackings, long before 9/11 and ignored by most other airlines.

And, having suffered one failed attack on the WTC, thinking forward to where and when the next attack might come from. A flying bomb in the guise of a fully fueled civilian aircraft should have been a top priority of concern.
Two simple items that would have stopped 9/11 from happening, not a mighty military force.

Most armies are filled with men and women who aren't afraid to fight -- and die - for what their leaders perceive as "right" not for what "is" right. Ask any German or Japanese soldier of World War II to verify this. Our military is no different, they fight as told by their leaders, and it is up to us, the voters to make sure that the leaders are up to the task of what is "right"or kick the scoundrels out. It is called democracy!

Ask Americans if they would prefer living in the 1960s to 2006. Until you get that answer, don't be so arrogant as to assume that the social experiments of the 60s were disastrous. Maybe only the super rich would agree to that.

Oh, and by the way, the Brits liked Lincoln, but you are right, the rest of the Republican presidents, on the whole, do not come up to their standards of good world leaders.

Finally, I am sure that there is more hot air coming from the Capital building than from Windsor Castle, so I am equally sure why Mr. Tabor favours the Capital building.
