Dealing with "Tough People"
So you think you have rough co-workers to deal with each day. Consider the plight of Jesus. In the book of John, chapter six, Jesus had hundreds of 'disciples' walk away from Him, leaving Jesus with the twelve. Included in the twelve, Judas Iscariot. Jesus knew that his daily ministry would include a man who was determined to betray Him. Now I ask, "How would you like to have these eternal tensions with a co-laborer?"
Missing Church is a Picture of Faith
Alright, I confess, I skipped church today! My lovely wife, Tammy, and one of my daughters are ill. I ran to the grocery store early on this Sunday morning to pick up some needed medicine and cold remedies. I was amazed at the morning disciplines displayed by my fellow residents.
Here it is Sunday, and they were all working so diligently at honing their bodies. If we could bottle the determination and commitment to (conditioning our physical bodies) running, jogging and eating correctly into a spiritual discipline...as well as all of the 'physical tithing' into running gears and refreshment toys...this country might stand half a chance.
God Signs the Papers for Obedience Training
We took our '13-month-old' Black Lab to obedience training this weekend. After dropping her off for five weeks, there were many tears shed during the ride home. As we felt the tug of remorse and heart ache, we encouraged each other that "it is the right thing to do", considering our beloved dog needs to learn a thing or two about obedience.
Then I got to thinking, "I wonder if this is how God feels when he drops us off at the start of an ordained trial?" I'm sure He is remorseful and full of compassionate. I know it must tug hard at His heart. Leaving my Father to say, "Eric, it's the right thing to do, it is for your best. At the end of 'seasonal trial', you'll be better for the journey (faith) I called you to; and obedience (wisdom) for your walk." Bring it on; but gently Father.
