Produced by Phil Kristianson, the album is recorded in a split-track format allowing users to personalize the songs for various worship formats with the vocals only or music only tracks.
"What makes this Christmas recording unique is that it is based on the premise that a church or small group does not need an elaborate orchestra or band to experience Christmas music at its fullest," says Kristianson. "Christmas music is many times just something we sing between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We don't always think of it as worship music, but we should. The simplicity of instrumentation on Joy to the World gives the listener an opportunity to focus on the lyrics."
Additional resources available for the recording and other projects in the series include MIDI files, rhythm charts, split-track rehearsal CD and piano accompaniment arrangements.
The album released September 7, 1999 from Maranatha! Music.
