Generosity is still in fashion, especially inside of the church.
I've been impacted by my involvement in two radio fund raising campaigns this fall. In September I traveled to Cambodia, visiting churches and ministries throughout this war torn, poverty stricken country. Upon returning to my microphone for KFIA and KFAX radio stations in Northern California, we asked and received over $67,000 to send 19,000 Bibles back to Cambodia.
Last night I returned from San Francisco. I welcomed the 50-year ministry of City Team to the studios of KFAX Radio.
We started out asking for $35 for a "food box" that can feed 15 family members over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. After a few moments, God impressed upon me that the $35 target was way too low. So we simply asked for 100 "Seed Sowers" who would call and contribute $100 for the cause. After two hours we had our 100 "Sowers" and more. We raised nearly $17,000 for City Team and their tangible touch of Jesus Christ in the Bay Area.
I'm reminded that our Father mentions; "You have not, because you ask not." It's just in the asking and the obedient compliance of those who know that Father God is in the midst of the transaction. A donation that activates God's touch on lives that are the focus of His heart's cry.
This holiday season, be obedient and give...go ahead and activate life's hope with the love of Jesus this year.
