I just read a very short, to the point and thought provoking Crosswalk column by David Rosales . Do you live in anticipation for Jesus' return? What an 'old fashion' question for today's generation of materialism, consumerism and consumption.
Well, it stands to be answered, do you? Do we live as Christians, in anticipation for Jesus' return to earth? My great-grandmother would be proud of me asking this question today. There wasn't a day that went by that she didn't bring this up in casual conversation. I sure do miss those days...because it has never been this late before.
So, is the "rapture" outdated material for talk radio conversation these days? Do I have to wrap the dialogue in the 'Left Behind Series' to stoke the rhetorical fire (oops, bad choice of words)?
Are we too materialistic, intelligent...too 'techy' to literally believe in the rapture and the return of Jesus Christ today?
When was the last time you heard a message on the rapture in church? Alright, don't be so quick to judge...when was the last time you brought the issue up inside of normal, natural conversation at the water cooler?
Are we too mature, too professional to discuss the rapture in the marketplace? Have we lost our expectation of Jesus' words and promise to return? Are we afraid of being labeled 'to heavenly minded, and no earthly good'? (That's my excuse, seriously)
As Rosales asks, "Are you looking forward to the return of the Lord; does your life reflect this anticipation?"
Look for this soon on my talk show, and be prepared to give some hearty answers.
