Thank you for your reminder about the timelessness of the commitment to Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, our post christian society is fast losing Thanksgiving except as a glutton/sports-fest. With Halloween fast becoming a national obsession (which I find interesting: a society that worships youth and beauty has adopted a holiday which worships death and ugliness)Thanksgiving is being lost between Halloween and Christmas. Many people now refer to it as Turkey Day instead of Thanksgiving. Whether or not an American is a believer, it is vital to take some time regularly to be thankful for our country and for the bounty of our lives. Of course as Christians we are even more thankful for a God who transcends nationality and time.
