Over-Parenting and Social Disaster

As I read this article, I found that I could understand it way too well. I am an adult child who is a product of such a parent. I would be interested to see if other adults related to this article as well, and if they feel the same desire to avoid risks at all costs due to fear of pain or loss. I know that I have avoided struggling through things because my mother often would take the struggle away from me. She was very controlling, and until I made a stand against her 6 months ago, continued to be.

Recently married to a beautiful wife, I am understanding now how growing up this way can make relationship building hard. Friendships have never come easy, and when they do come I believe I end up hovering too much and push people away.
