Finally! A balanced view on Jesus, Christianity and Politics. To say that I have been disturbed on things I've been hearing in Christian circles with leaders and the body as a whole on this election is an understatement. Things like, "You are not a Christian if you go for Obama" or "If you are a true Christian you will go for McCain", to leaders saying the Lord told them to tell us to vote this way or that way, or it's not God's will if Obama gets in there because of his liberal views, especially on abortion and it will change everything and causes us a a nation to be judged. I agree we need to vote who we believe will match the standard Christ gives but I've always said what if the evangelicals choice does not get in there, God will take care of us regardless. The way He deals with us as a nation is up to Him but as you said He told us what we need to do, no matter who is in there. Yes, we are slipping some but it's up to the Holy Spirit to change hearts, not the government.

Richard,

Just a quick post; I tried last night, but it seems my post didn't get saved, or something.

Foreign policy: What is foreign policy if not an extension of the relationships between two leaders? How many conflicts have been initiated because 2 men insulted each other, or couldn't get along, or held personal grudges and so dragged their whole nation in behind them?
Blessings,

PART 2 - Robert

Robert: even those that are its enemies? ... "Love your enemies, bless those who curse you"
RA: This was Jesus dealing with personal responses to life with others, not nations. And that is something about which I'm sure. This verse is not a foreign policy speech.

Robert: When "God's" choice (whomever that may be) is in the Whitehouse, don't swallow everything he says or does.
RA: Agreed. They are all, tbh, politicians. And I think all of us have seen that far to often from both parties, much to our shock and sadness.

Robert: I'm always surprised when protestants mock catholics for considering the Pope infallible then doubt the salvation and patriotism of anyone who calls into question the actions of George W. Blessings...
RA: My opinion = no man/woman is perfect; all men/women make mistakes. Christ alone was infallible, the perfect image of the invisible God (Col. 1:15).

I look forward top hearing more of your comments and questions.

peace to all,

R. Abanes

PART 1 - ROBERT

Robert: If God loves the whole world, which candidate do you think He'd want to have in the Whitehouse so that he could use him to bless someone else?
RA: Every president blesses somebody. I guess you have to decide who you want blessed.

Robert: Did you ever watch that movie "Head of State" ?
RA: No. I watched the trailer at youtube. Rather amusing.

Robert: Does America exist to bless its citizens primarily, or the whole world?
RA: I think the president of the U.S. should primarily be concerned with the U.S., since it's obvious that the U.S. is the country he is leading. Then, international issues that directly affect the stability/safety of the U.S. would come next. Finally, surplus energy, funds, time, ability, and resources would go to other countries. Now, having said that, we live in a world that is extraordinarily complex on an international level, and I am NOT A POLITICIAN -- so feel free to disregard everything I have just said. LoL.

Part 2 coming....

Greetings Robert & Grace.

Grace: There is absolutely nothing that even hints of a biblical worldview coming from the Obama/Biden campaign or the Democratic Party. . . .

RA: I appreciate your point, and I'd love to hear from some Christian Democrats out there in response.

Good post... And I have just a couple thoughts to add. If God loves the whole world, which candidate do you think He'd want to have in the Whitehouse so that he could use him to bless someone else? Did you ever watch that movie "Head of State" ? One candidate ended his speach with "God bless America, and no place else" while the other concluded with "God bless America and every place else". Does America exist to bless its citizens primarily, or the whole world? - even those that are its enemies? ooooh... that sounds too much like Jesus! "Love your enemies, bless those who curse you" The other thought is: When "God's" choice (whomever that may be) is in the Whitehouse, don't swallow everything he says or does. I'm always surprised when protestants mock catholics for considering the Pope infallable then doubt the salvation and patriotism of anyone who calls into question the actions of George W. I think for Christians the only decision is whether or not to vote for McCain/Palin or not. There is absoluting nothing that even hints of a biblical worldview coming from the Obama/Biden campaign or the Democratic Party. At least on the Republican ticket you have a more tradition Judeo-Christian influence in the selection of Palin. If Christians would only get informed I believe they would see that the choice is not that difficult.
