It looks as though a whole new generation will get to experience Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic novel. According to a post by Sarah Yang at Real Simple, Netflix is teaming up with the Canadian network CBC to create an eight-episode miniseries called Anne. The show – which is allegedly the work of an all-female team of writers, directors, and producers – will chronicle the adventures of an orphan girl who is adopted by a sister and brother after she is mistakenly sent to live with them. The novel was known for exploring themes of identity, sexism, bullying, self-reliance, and growing up, and is still beloved by many readers. Anne of Green Gables has even been translated into 20 languages, and produced a number of film adaptions which have ensured its popularity to this day.

While there is currently no news on who has been cast for the main roles, or if the series will continue into the following books, the show is scheduled to stream globally on Netflix sometime in 2017.
