Here's an old story from the comic strip "Peanuts." Lucy is down on her knees looking intently at something on the ground when Charlie Brown comes along. She says, "I've been watching these bugs, Charlie Brown. You see, this one bug here is about to leave home. He's been saying goodbye to all his friends. Suddenly, this little girl bug comes running up and tries to persuade him not to leave." Charlie Brown looks up with an amazed and puzzled look on his face. Lucy concludes, "If you're going to be a good bug-watcher, you have to have lots of imagination."

Lucy is right, of course. What you see is what you want to see. Some people look at life and see nothing but bugs. Other people see a love story.

A letter came in the mail from a long-time friend who has been watching some newlyweds. Especially, she’s been watching how the new bride treats her husband. "I've been watching all the neat little things Christie does for Jim. It’s crazy how you forget all that stuff after eight years of marriage." It all depends on what you see. Some people see bugs, other people see a love story.

When Joshua was just a young boy, he saw two ants on the floor and said, "Look! There’s a Mommy ant and a Daddy ant." Marlene asked how he could tell. "That's easy. They're kissing. Oops! They’re kissing again!"

It really does depend on what you see. If all you see is bugs everywhere you look, you're going to be discouraged. After all, who wants to live around bugs? But if you see a love story, you're going to get excited.

Many marriages go sour because we quit loving and start looking for the bugs. The antidote is to go back to the beginning and do those neat little things all over again. What are you looking at these days--silly bugs or a love story? It all depends on what you see.
