At the end of a meal with KBM board member Skip Olson, he asked me to sign a copy of my book An Anchor for the Soul. During the meal he had engaged the waitress in a conversation about spiritual matters. She seemed intrigued when she learned about our name– Keep Believing Ministries. So I signed the book and Skip left it on the table along with a generous tip.

That’s when Skip told me the rest of the story. “I’m praying for a million people to come to Christ as a result of that book.” Since Skip often gives out copies of Anchor, I thought he meant he was praying for a million people to come to Christ as a result of all the books he gives out. That alone would be amazing.

“I’m praying for God to bring one million people into the Kingdom as a result of each book I give away.” When I looked surprised, he had a simple explanation.

“God loves a challenge.”

“I’ll never know the end result of each book,” he added, “but I’m asking God to multiply the impact far beyond anything I can see. I’m looking forward to meeting multitudes in heaven, people I never met on earth who came to Christ through the testimony of those who read the book, trusted Christ and told others who told others.”

I think God is pleased when we dare to ask him for Kingdom goals that seem humanly impossible.

“Open your mouth wide and I will fill it” (Psalm 81:10 HCSB).

“For nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37 NIV).

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!” (Ephesians 3:20 MSG).

When you pray, pray prayers so big that you’ll have to go to heaven to see the answers.
