A 'Good Friday' for a Conversation

Today we get back to discussing the topics of the day...

OBAMA STILL CAN’T ESCAPE WRIGHT...

Others are asking what I was asking last week: From Charles Krauthammer: The question is why didn't he leave that church? Why didn't he leave - why doesn't he leave even today - a pastor who thundered not once but three times from the pulpit (on a DVD the church proudly sells) "God damn America"? Obama's 5,000-word speech, fawned over as a great meditation on race, is little more than an elegantly crafted, brilliantly sophistic justification of that scandalous dereliction. (Townhall) Meanwhile, Obama tossed out the phrase “typical white person” yesterday. Inside of our 'PC' world this is concerning and will be watched by the media during this campaign. Imagine the uproar if a white candidate referenced the “typical black person.” There would be an outcry for the 'white' candidate to apologize! (NY Daily News) Remember, Perot got in trouble for saying something close; Ross Perot when he got in trouble for “you people.” More "YouTube" sources begin the research on Barak, here are some 'Obama/Wright' contradictions. (Youtube) It is safe to say that this race is now about race, and this country is in the midst of her greatest sin - 'race baiting and hatred'. See what unforgiveness can create, as well as deep seeded 'us versus them' ideology, it holds back reconciliation. The enemy has a field day with our sinfulness. Divide and conquer!

STUDY:  GIVING MORE MAKES YOU HAPPY...

This is the true 'prosperity message' surrounding giving to God in tithes. From the story: Lead researcher Elizabeth W. Dunn, an assistant professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia, said she wasn't surprised that doing something for others made people happy. But she was struck by how big the effect was and that how people spent money was more important than how much money they had. AP

CHURCHES WILL BE FULL ON EASTER SUNDAY...

I want to talk about this Monday, after Easter...what did your church say to the 'visitors' yesterday at church? Also from the story: Easter is a Christian celebration, and a review of Gallup polling continues to reveal a nation that remains strongly Christian in its religious orientation. Gallup data show that 79% of Americans currently identify as Christian - either Protestant, Roman Catholic, or some other Christian religion.  Given that about 14% of Americans in Gallup's surveys either say they have no religion or refuse to answer, the proportion of Americans who identify themselves with a particular Christian religion rises to about 92%.  Gallup

MANY STATES LOOK TO LOWER DRINKING AGE...

From the story: Legislation introduced in Kentucky, Wisconsin and South Carolina would lower the drinking age for military personnel only. A planned ballot initiative in Missouri would apply to everyone 18 and older. An initiative in the works in South Dakota would allow all 19-and 20-year-olds to buy low-alcohol beer. Vermont's legislature is considering a task force to study the issue. A Minnesota bill would allow anyone 18 and older to buy alcohol in bars or restaurants, but not in liquor stores until they're 21 USA Today

MASSACHUSETTS STRUGGLES TO PAY FOR HEALTHCARE...

As one would expect. A telling sentence from the story: To close the gap, the Patrick administration has asked insurers, hospitals, healthcare advocates, and business leaders to propose ways to cut costs and raise revenue. Boston Globe  Remember, this is what California is considering. It may sound and feel good, but can we afford to fund it in the end? We are talking about people's lives here...and if it comes down to government operating health issues with a budget in mind, people will lose their lives over decisions that impact lives.

BUSINESSES LOSE $1.7 BILLION DURING MARCH MADNESS...

Is it stealing to be operating and participating in an Office Pool involving March Madness? As people stop working to follow the games. (FOX Business) To make matters worse, CBS is streaming all the games online. (CBS Sports) But I didn’t tell you that! Should Christians be involved in March Madness Office Pools?
