You may have already “met” Trenton Cochran and his sister Lindsay via an interview that’s gone viral. Or perhaps you saw them on Fox & Friends last week.

Ten-year-old Lindsay has a rare condition, spinal muscular atrophy, which confines her to a wheelchair and limits her physically. But she doesn’t face her challenges alone. Big brother Trenton is always by her side, helping take care of her, standing up for her and being her best friend.

In a video made by the Cochrans' church, Trenton and Lindsay talk about their special bond. At one point during the interview, Trenton becomes emotional as he describes the love he has for his sister: “She’s one of the center priorities of my life. I would take a bullet for her… she’s my best friend. I would do anything for her.”

It’s that devotion to his sister that caused the siblings’ original interview to go viral.

Here at Focus, we’re not surprised that so many people are falling in love with Trenton and Lindsay. In fact, they had already captured our hearts.

I’ve previously blogged about “Irreplaceable,” Focus’ first feature-film, set to debut on May 6 in more than 700 cinemas nationwide. This documentary will explore culture’s view of family, and how it measures up against God’s design.

What I hadn’t mentioned is that “Irreplaceable” will be followed by “The Family Project,” the 13-part small-group DVD experience that will dig deeper into the themes explored in “Irreplaceable.”

“The Family Project” will be available this summer – and Trenton and Lindsay Cochran are just two of the many amazing people you’ll meet in those DVDs.

We don’t want to just challenge people’s intellect as they learn about God’s design for families. We also want their hearts to be filled as they see God’s plan unfold in their lives.

We believe sharing the real-life stories of people like Trenton and Lindsay will inspire those who participate in “The Family Project.” Those stories will encourage viewers to trust that God’s plan is accessible to us in the “real world,” even with our imperfect families and daily challenges.

In the end, our hope for both “Irreplaceable” and “The Family Project” is this: to make God known through His marvelous design of family. Please join us in praying that the Lord helps us accomplish just that.
