Day 15 - The Weight of Immorality

I taught Bible Study last night. We're studying Ephesians and how Paul wanted the church at Ephesus to know in the very fiber of their being who they were in Christ and what they had inherited from God because they were in Christ.

As I stared at the white board with the list I had made of what I formerly was and who I am now in Christ, I was overcome with emotion. You see, I know my own depravity. The darkness of my own heart. I know the pits I have dwelt in. I remember how I felt utterly helpless to change. And I know how it happened. I cracked the door open to immorality and the enemy blew it wide open.

There's a saying that "sin will take you farther than you ever wanted to go, require a cost you never wanted to pay and keep you longer than you ever wanted to stay."

It's been years since I've thought about that season of my life, but the memory of it still stings. The amazing thing is that I am no longer there! Praise God, I am no longer stuck. I am no longer dead in my trespasses and sins. He has made me new - washed, sanctified, justified and glorified. What a tremendous gift!

Father, I thank You for opening my eyes. I thank You for pulling me out of the dark into Your marvelous light. Thank You for rescuing me from the dominion of darkness and transferring me into the kingdom of Your beloved Son in whom I have redemption , the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:13-14)

Lord, I pray that You would bestow on me real knowledge and all discernment, so that I may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ. (Philippians 1:9-10) Do not let me be deceived by the enemy's schemes, but I pray that my mind would be girded for action, keeping sober in spirit, fixing my hope completely on the grace to be brought to me at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:13)

I pray that I would walk by the Spirit and not carry out the desire of my flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. O God, help me live and also walk by the Spirit. (Galatians 5:16-17, 24-25)

Father, thank You for washing me, sanctifying me and justifying me in the name of the Jesus and it's in His name I pray, Amen.
