Christmas in Two Words

How would you capture the essence of Christmas in just two words?

Two words.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.

I started thinking about this morning and found it a helpful exercise–like trying to write a headline for the Bethlehem Daily Journal. And remember, headlines should be pithy, factual, memorable. Here are a few to get you started.

Light Shines.
Heaven Arrives.
Christ Comes.
Angels Sighted.
Darkness Defeated.
Jesus Born.
Herod Hoodwinked.
Welcome Messiah.
Prophets Foretold.
God Infleshed.
Unto Us.
Good News!
Great Joy!
God Here!

That took me about four minutes–and it greatly warmed my heart. Now it’s your turn. Help us think of some more two-word Christmas headlines. Click here to offer your suggestions.

Christmas as it is practiced today and perceived by the world AND as it came to be in its origin? Pagan festival

As we Christians know the Biblical occurrence? Historical reality.

Nothing more. It was a one-time event, a human birth just like any other as far as the world knew at the time. But we know so much more about the supernatural incarnation. But that is not Christmas. The term itself is not even found in the Bible. The world, and sadly Christians, have gone on perpetuating so much of the myth of this event that it is impossible to tell the truth without first dispelling all the associated myth.

That's part of the reason why we were never commanded to observe this as some holiday. We were commanded to preach the Gospel, a part of which contains this reality: The Lord Jesus Christ came to save sinners.
