15-Year-Old Girl that Escaped ISIS Reports Forced Conversion to Islam, Rape

A 15-year-old girl is now at a refugee camp in Iraq after escaping her ISIS captors. The teenager, known only as Aria, now says that the terrorist organization forces its female prisoners to study Islam; the girls and women were also raped.

In an interview, Aria said, "In Mosul they tried to make us change our faith and religion. They said to us, 'Read our Quran.' A couple of the girls said, 'We never went to school — we can't read.' I couldn't understand the Quran.”

Aria was kidnapped six weeks ago as her family attempted to flee their home in Sinjar, after receiving word that ISIS terrorists were coming. The family’s vehicle was stopped and the militants kidnapped the women.

"They forced us out of the car. The girls and women were separated from the men, including my 19-year-old brother. But they only took the girls, forcing us into a minivan,” Aria said.

When Aria escaped from her captors, she learned that the terrorists had killed her brother.

"That made me very sad. I only had one brother. He was only married for six months. I was sad to hear this. They killed him and other men when they took me. They shot him in the head. My mother slept next to my brother's body all night,” she said.
