Police in Paris launched two attacks Friday on hostage-standoffs.

Two terror suspects and another gunman were killed in the attack.

Hostages were taken to a warehouse north of Paris and a kosher supermarket in the capital. Many were freed at both sites in the raid. It’s unclear how many may have been killed in the fighting.

"The kosher supermarket has been stormed. The terrorist is dead. The hostages are alive," Gerard Araud, the French ambassador to the United States, said on Twitter.

Police were looking for Cherif Kouachi, 32, and his brother Said, 34, after they killed 12 people in an attack on the offices of the Charlie Hebdo, a satirical newspaper.

The brothers had said they attacked the office because the newspaper had published cartoons making fun of the prophet Mohammed. Before the attacks, the two were on the U.S. no-fly watch list, according to reports.

"They said they want to die as martyrs," Yves Albarello, a lawmaker who said he was inside the police command post in Dammartin-en-Goele, told French television station i-Tele.

A third suspect, Hamyd Mourad, 18, surrendered at a police station this week. It’s unclear what his role was in the attack.
