Steve McConkey, president of 4 WINDS Christian Athletics, recently denounced the U.S. Olympic Committee for the pro-homosexual policies that were in place for the Sochi Olympics.

Sexual orientation was recently added to the Olympic Committee’s anti-discrimination policy which caused Evangelical Christian McConkey great concern. He voiced his opinion in a press release last year writing, “Christians believe homosexuality is a sin.”

The anti-discrimination rules are in place to allow gay athletes to participate in the Olympics but McConkey believes that this change could lead toward discrimination of Christians in the future.

“The policies are set up for discrimination against gay athletes, but there could be reverse discrimination in the future,” McConkey said. “It is a matter of time when Christians that believe homosexuality is a sin will go against the law of the land. The Olympic movement shadows what is happening in the real world.”

Michael Schuler, a Unitarian group leader is one critic of McConkey’s stand. He said, “McConkey does not by any means speak for ‘Christians’ as a group. He is, in fact, an outlier whose views Christians in the mainline community would never support.”

McConkey asks for prayer for 4 WINDS’ ministry as the organization intends to continue its work amongst criticism.
