Actor Mr. T Shares Importance of Faith in His Life

Christian celebrity Mr. T recently shared in an interview how God sustained him through his battle with cancer.

CBN News reports that the 64-year-old former wrestler Lawrence Tureaud, known as “Mr. T,” battled lymphoma cancer back in 1995. He is now cancer-free, but it was a long, tough road.

“My faith was tested like Job. That’s the message I try to tell other people, just because you believe in God, serve God, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, people gotta realize, it don’t mean things not gonna happen to you,” Mr. T told Fox. “I believed in God when cancer come to me. Now, when I speak, I speak with authority because I’ve been there.”

Mr. T, who is also an actor, is currently competing on “Dancing With the Stars.” He said he plans to donate his earnings from the competition to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

“I answer only to God. I got so much, got gold … Rolls Royce [but] I didn’t forget God,” he said. “Every day I pray.”

Mr. T grew up as a pastor’s son and has often been vocal about his faith and the important role it plays in his life.
