Christian singer Amy Grant is standing by her partnership with the Gates Foundation, an organization that has invested in abortion businesses.

Life News reports Grant is personally pro-life on the abortion issue, but she is working with Melissa Gates, of the Gates Foundation, to help distribute birth control and other contraceptives to poor nations.

“I hosted Melinda Gates in Nashville as she came to meet with our vibrant faith community for the first time. I didn’t know Melinda, and she didn’t know me. But we did know each other’s work well.

“What an amazing experience to hear about her faith journey, how Christian music had influenced her commitment to the world’s poor, and to learn more about how I could join hands with her and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to help 120 million women around the world, to save their lives and the lives of their children,” Grant wrote in an opinion column for Fox News.

But after criticism surfaced for the partnership, Grand said she supports the Gates Foundation.

“Gates Foundation is NOT pro-abortion,” she wrote on her Facebook. “We mean enabling women and couples to determine the number and timing of their pregnancies, including the voluntary use of methods for preventing pregnancy, not including abortion, that are harmonious with their values and religious beliefs.

According to the Gates Foundation, Planned Parenthood of America, Planned Parenthood of Western Washington and the International Planned Parenthood Federation received about $71 million through 2013.
