Atheists' Christmas Billboard Campaign Targets Bible Belt

Atheists have launched a billboard campaign targeting Christian Christmas celebrations in America’s Bible Belt. Signs that feature a young girl writing a letter to Santa. The letter reads, “Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is to skip church! I’m too old for fairy tales.” 

The signs will be posted in Nashville, Memphis, St. Louis, Milwaukee and Ft. Smith, Arkansas until Christmas Eve. Jackson, Mississippi rejected the billboard campaign due to its content. 

Billboards will be positioned in residential areas close to churches and schools, a change from previous years when messages were posted in urban areas. 

American Atheists (AA) President David Silverman said, "Even children know churches spew absurdity, which is why they don't want to attend services. Enjoy the time with your family and friends instead. Today's adults have no obligation to pretend to believe the lies their parents believed. It's OK to admit that your parents were wrong about God, and it's definitely OK to tell your children the truth."
