Ben Carson’s Pyramid Theory Ridiculed by Experts

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says that Egypt’s great pyramids were built by Joseph to store grain despite expert reports that they were tombs for pharaohs.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, Carson’s views on the pyramids surfaced in 17-year-old videos from Michigan College.
"My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids in order to store grain,” Carson says in the videos, referring to the Old Testament story of Joseph advising the pharaoh to store food in advance of a coming famine.
Then Thursday, Carson was asked about his comments from 17 years ago.
"Some people believe in the Bible like I do and don't find that to be silly at all, and believe that God created the Earth and don't find that to be silly at all," he said.
"The secular progressives try to ridicule it every time it comes up and they're welcome to do that."
But experts argue that the pyramids were royal tombs.
"This is not an academic topic of debate," said Jodi Magness, a specialist in biblical archaeology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. "The use of the pyramids as tombs is verified by both written (literary) sources and archaeological evidence."
Carson is Seventh-day Adventist. Despite his scientific background as a neurosurgeon, he also says he doesn’t believe in evolutionary biology.
