Ben Carson Stands up for Christianity, Calls on Pastors to Endorse Him

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has been focusing his campaign efforts on gaining the support of Christians; specifically, the Carson campaign is calling on pastors to endorse him for president.

According to The Christian Post, Carson has made it a priority throughout his campaign to be vocal about his Christian faith and to stand up for America’s Judeo-Christian roots.

Carson called on pastors to join him in praying for the country, and asked them to endorse him for president on the Faith Based Coalition for Ben Carson website, where there is a form for pastors to fill out when they endorse him.

"I am convinced that we are better equipped to face these challenges when we call on God in prayer,” stated Carson. “In the past days, secular progressives and their messengers in the mainstream media have tried to shame faithful Americans for turning to prayer during times of crisis.”

Carson, who is a Seventh-Day Adventist, has refuted charges that his Christianity is unorthodox. He said he believes in core Christian doctrines, although he does believe that Saturday is the Sabbath.

Carson has addressed the battle that he says is being waged in America between Christians and secular progressives.

“The pledge of allegiance to our flag says we are one nation under God. Many courtrooms in the land, on the wall it says 'In God We Trust.' Every coin in our pocket, every bill in our wallet says 'In God We Trust,'" the Republican candidate said in October.

"So if it's in our founding documents, it's in our pledges, in our courts and it's on our money, but we're not supposed to talk about it, what in the world is that? In medicine it's called schizophrenia. And I, for one, am simply not willing to kick God to the curb.”
