Billy Graham Rapid Response Team Sends Chaplains, Aid Workers to Brussels

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) has dispatched chaplains and aid workers to the city of Brussels which suffered terrorist attacks last week that killed 32 people and devastated the city.

The Christian Post reports that Jeff Naber, one of the chaplains with RRT, observed that Belgians are in mourning for the loss of lives and violence that occurred, but are also in fear that another attack will soon come.

Despite the discouragement of many Belgians, however, Naber and those working with RRT are making an impact for Christ.

Naber shared one moving story:

“Coming back from the store, and I run across this guy walking this huge dog. One thing leads to another, and we start talking about God. He said, 'I don't know if you need to know Jesus in order to have eternal life.' I explained the Gospel message using the Steps to Peace and he accepted Christ about an hour ago."

Although Naber reported that many Belgians with whom the RRT team spoke were cautious about the mention of God, the team has been able to pray with people and support local churches.

Naber added that “There's a lot of strife, but if you look at John 16:33 you'll see where Jesus says, ‘In this world, you're going to be faced with trials and troubles, but take heart because I have overcome the world.’ And that’s our message.”

The RRT’s Facebook page contains updates of the organization’s progress and photos of their work while in Brussels.
