About 30 children have reportedly been abducted by Boko Haram militants. The children were taken from the village of Mafa in Borno state during an attack Thursday (Oct. 23).

Alhaji Shettima Maina, a Mafa leader, said the fighters "grabbed young people, boys and girls.”

"They took all boys aged 13 and above...and all girls aged 11 and above.”

"They took them away to their base in the bush, and we believe they are going to use them as foot soldiers,” he said.

Maina appealed to the Nigerian government for help but has not gotten a response.

This latest abduction followed closely behind a kidnapping of 24 girls last week orchestrated by the militant group.

Boko Haram also continues to hold captive almost 200 girls abducted from a school in Chibok village on April 14.
