A Christian pastor in Uganda has died after being poisoned with insecticide, according to ChristianToday.com

Micah Byamukama, who was pastor of Kasecha Baptist Church, used to be an animist before converting to Christianity and changing his name from Mukama to Byamukama, which means “All for God.”

Byamukama, who had previously survived a knife attack, was poisoned for preaching about Christianity.

Persecution watch group Morning Star News reports that Byamukamu preached against belief in supernatural creatures of Arabic mythology called “Islamic Jinn.”

“[T]he true God is the God of the Lord Jesus Christ, who conquered the power of Satan including the Islamic Jinn,” said Byamukamu.

"He maintained that the Islamic Jinn are acts of Satan and should be denounced,” added Morning Star News.

Byamukama was reportedly poisoned when a guest entered the home where he was staying. Soon after, he began to have stomach pains, accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea. He eventually died from the poison.

The Christian Post reports that 85 percent of Ugandans are Christian, while 11 percent are Muslims. However, some eastern areas of the country have large Muslim communities. Although the country’s constitution provides for religious freedom, Christians are often targeted for their faith.
