Christians Join Together to Pray for the Supreme Court to Protect Life

A coalition called Texas Loves Life is asking for Christians to pray for the Supreme Court as the court considers a Texas pro-life law.

In a column for the Christian Post, Matt Lockett, executive director for Bound4LIFE International and Justice House of Prayer DC, said, “We're not doing it for press conferences, lobbying or other common reasons. The coalition Texas Loves Life exists solely to pray for the Supreme Court.”

Carol Everett, founder of The Heidi Group in Round Rock, Texas, told pro-life leaders in a conference call this week that about 40,000 lives have been saved in Texas since HB 2 went into law in 2013.

“We recently surveyed our network of 183 life-affirming pregnancy centers in Texas, who reported increases as high as 300 percent of women using our ultrasound and other services," Everett said.

Lockett said prayer conference calls will continue monthly. Also this month and leading to March 20, team members from David’s Tent DC, 40 Days for Life and Bound3LIFE will pray in front of the U.S. Supreme Court building for 40 days straight.

“Those dates coincide with a larger 40 Days for Life campaign, which is happening in 273 cities worldwide — as people pray peacefully in front of abortion centers, courthouses and other venues,” Lockett said.

Lockett said the abortion industry is challenging HB 2, which is also know as the pro-life bill. Two parts of HB2 are going before the Supreme Court in the case Whole Woman’s Health vs. Hellerstedt. A ruling is expected by June 30.

Pro-choice advocates say the policies create an “undue burden” on women who want abortions.

“The next five months are some of the most pivotal the pro-life movement has ever faced. It's why I feel such an urgency to see Christians working together to pray specifically for this case,” Lockett said.

“Prayer is a partnership — first, between each of us and God.”
