A church in Croatia has denied “Game of Thrones” permission to film a nude scene inside the sanctuary. Christian Today reports that the Church of St. Nicholas will not allow the scene to take place, “citing an aversion to public nudity.”
Producers planned that Cersei, played by actress Lena Headey, should walk naked from the sanctuary to the streets, calling the scene a “walk of penance.” The film commission in Croatia decided that the Church of St. Nicholas should have final say before the scene was shot.
Producers say that they cannot cut the scene because it is necessary for character development. They must now find a church willing to participate in filming or create a sound stage adaptation of the cathedral.
